SWISSBENCH: the high-tech workbench that adapts to your needs
With over 70 years’ expertise in designing workstations for the watchmaking, jewellery and gem-setting industries, Allemand Frères marked a historic turning point in 2025 by completely rethinking its specialist workbenches from scratch. The result is the launch of a new range of Swiss-made workbenches and a new brand: : SWISSBENCH.
A visionary and collaborative approach
The SWISSBENCH project is the result of a fundamental rethink, underpinned by the Sardi Group’s expertise in strategic design. Rather than producing a multitude of specific models, the designers opted for intelligent standardisation. The central concept is based on a common, universal structure capable of adapting to all precision activities. This mechanically welded structure, offering absolute rigidity, allows one to switch from a watchmaker’s workstation to a jeweller’s simply by changing the worktop, transforming the management of workshop facilities – once a complex process – into an agile and fluid system.
Ergonomics down to the millimetre
To combat musculoskeletal disorders, SWISSBENCH offers an unprecedented range of adjustment. The worktop, which can be adjusted in height electrically to the nearest millimetre, can be set between 75 cm and 125 cm. This versatility ensures perfect posture, whether the craftsman is sitting or standing. The wide range of accessories ensures smooth, controlled movements whilst guaranteeing the best working conditions. The desired height can be adjusted electrically to the nearest millimetre and positions can be saved.
One of the centrepieces of this new workbench’s design is the technical area at the rear, nicknamed the ‘spoiler’. A true nerve centre, this ergonomic structure allows for the installation of various accessories such as lighting, a gooseneck arm and electrical fittings, whilst housing all the cabling. Everything is neat, stylish and meticulously finished. Each component is movable. If you wish to move the swan-neck lamp to the other side (for a left-handed worker, for example), the change is quick and easy on this ‘technical’ section. It is also completely separate from the worktop, allowing it to be changed in a matter of seconds.
A product designed to evolve over time
The range’s key innovation lies in its ability to grow alongside the business. In addition to interchangeable worktops (allowing, for example, a switch from a specialised watchmaking surface to solid oak for jewellery), the workbench is adjustable in width from 1200 to 1600 mm.
This flexibility offers a major environmental and economic advantage: rather than completely replacing furniture that has become unsuitable, the user can modify the existing structure directly on site. This approach drastically reduces the carbon footprint and the costs of re-equipping.
A high-end Swiss-made technological product
The standardisation of components and a Lean production method enable the SWISSBENCH range to remain at a price level in line with the market. Delivery times are also significantly reduced (three weeks compared to nine for previous generations of standard products). At the heart of the system is the ultra-rigid, flexible workbench with a welded steel frame. All optional components are standardised (various sizes of combinable drawers) and allow for the creation of bespoke workstations with an industrial design philosophy.
This new approach is no longer limited to watchmaking workshops alone. Thanks to its robustness and modularity, the system is naturally suited to the electronics, medical and dental sectors.
No compromises have been made on quality, and 95% of the parts are sourced from Switzerland.
Protected innovations
SWISSBENCH eatures numerous design innovations, prompting the development teams to protect these innovations by filing a patent application.
With SWISSBENCH, Allemand Frères offers not just a workbench, but a high-precision technological tool that is as aesthetically pleasing as it is high-performing.
